Welcome to the website of the EU-US co-operation.

This website has been set up to provide information on the EU-US cooperation in E-learning. The objectives of the agreement are to identify areas and methods for cooperation which naturally benefit both sides on a programme and project level. The web site is under development but will provide information on the agreement, initiatives on both sides of the Atlantic, meeting reports, areas for discussion.

The Steering Group of EU-US Co-operation in Science and Technology in eLearning had its fourth meeting in Washington DC on 12-13 December 2001 - See domains of cooperation for the minutes.

The last meeting took place in Lisbon, Portugal on 18-20 May 2002.

elVIAS

elVIAS is a knowledge archive and retrieval service specializing in e-Learning and knowledge management information. VIAS, itself, was developed in the Visualization and Virtual Environments Group at NCSA in response to the explosion of information available in electronic form via the Internet.

Current in its beta form, elVIAS contains information focused on Distance Learning. You can access the elVIAS beta-test interface and search its archives for distance learning information at http://elvias.ncsa.uiuc.edu .


I-KNOW (Inquiring Knowledge Networks On the Web) is a tool to assist the study, creation and growth of knowledge networks.

Created in the Team Engineering Collaboratory at the University of Illinois, it is designed to assist individuals to search the organization’s databases to automatically answer questions about the organizations knowledge and cognitive networks. In other words, I-KNOW answers the following:

  • Who knows who?
  • Who knows what?
  • Who knows who, who knows who?
  • Who knows who, who knows what?
