EU-US Breakout Group Instructions (eLearning) Steering Group
The breakouts will be in three areas comprising the three working groups
of the above Steering Group. These are the working groups in: Schools
of Tomorrow, eLearning Futures (earlier known as telelearning), and
Selflearning for Work (prevously known as Lifelong Learning including
The Learning Citizen). Each of these groups are to consider the following
items and address each appropriately. Each working group is free to
address any additional items they deem appropriate.
These items are:
- Domain of interest
- Characteristics of the domain in both the EU and US. These characteristics
should include both research and market issues.
- Examples of projects in these domains including EU national, EU,
and US projects.
- US programmes in the context of NSF initiatives
- EU programmes in the context of EU areas and action items
- Example topics for Research, Development, Demonstration, Takeup
(SBIR for NSF), and Suppport (Infrastructure for NSF) activities.
The groups should concentrate on the Research activities.
- Rationale for joint activities identifying similarities, complementarities,
and added values
- Methods for accomplishing worthwhile activities - e.g. what types
of projects will be appropriate.
- Road Map for consortia building
- Other appropriate activities: seminars, workshops, studies, expert
exchanges)
- Development of Web sites to support the activities.
